He was later successful in law, business and government. In 1885 he was appointed U.S. Consul at Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Keim also wrote on local history and his family genealogy.

circa.1880s. Large (7 x 4 1/2 inch) sterecard. The Scott County Soldiers Monument on Main Street in Davenport, Iowa was built through donations of private citizens to honor soldiers of Scott County who died in the Civil War. The Monument was designed by R.F. Carter of South Rydate, Vermont and dedicated on July 4, 1881. The monument is fiftly feet tall with an eight foot tall sculpture of a Civil War infantryman at its top. The stereocard photo shows the monument soon after it's completion.
